At Coach House, Andy works with students completing the Timber Products and Furniture Technologies subject in the Preliminary and HSC years. He also tutors students completing the Vocational and Educational Training (VET) course of Construction.
The work required for Timber Products and Furniture Technologies is detailed on the Education Standards website. Here’s their summary document:
Andy has many years of experience as a cabinet maker, construction labourer and team manager for government and civil contractors. He’s worked in home renovation projects, building extensions, shop fit-outs, factory assembly, demolition and use of reclaimed materials. Andy is also experienced in technical drawing.
Andy has also produced operations manuals for companies ranging from mining engineering services to commercial property maintenance services and heavy lifting equipment testers. The job involves research and inspections of plant and equipment, and development of policies and procedures of best practice in compliance with NSW Workplace Health and Safety (WH&S) standards and the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) standards.
Your tutor, Andy, built the fit-out for Coach House early in 2020. The original interior was a brick-and-tile space which had to be fully lined and fitted with interior walls, windows, doors and plasterboard. Andy patiently fulfilled all our requests for secret bookcase doors, timber wall panelling and a fake fireplace, building everything from scratch or using reclaimed materials and repurposed and restored furniture.
